Konfloor LTD were awarded their first project with Kier Construction to supply and install the floor slabs to a two storey warehouse with 10,000m² at ground level & 10,000m² at first floor level.

The slabs to all areas of the facility had to be constructed on consecutive days over a 3 week period. Panel sizes averaged 1,400m² with an average 300m³ concrete poured per day.

The ground floor area had a 200mm slab reinforced with a single layer of A193 mesh to the bottom face. The floor was to be cast to FM2 special tolerance using our Somero SXP laser screed. Permaban's Alpha Joint 4010 was selected as the preferred joint providing load transfer & arris protection between each panel. A natural colour dry shake was applied at 5kg/m² to increase surface abrasion resistance with a sealing membrane in the 90% curing efficiency class.

The preparation of the final 50mm of the sub grade was carried out using our laser guided dozer and compacted with a 10ton Bomag roller.

The first floor area had a 150mm slab, reinforced with a single layer of A193 mesh to the bottom face. The floor was cast using our Somero Copperhead laser screed. Permaban's permasteel 115 was selected as the joint of preference between each panel. A natural colour dry shake was applied at 5kg/m² to increase surface abrasion resistance with a sealing membrane in the 90% curing efficiency class.

The floor slabs to all areas were constructed within the 3 week programme and the finished slab to the ground floor was surveyed by FACE Consultants confirming FM2 “special” tolerance had been achieved.
