Konfloor LTD were contracted to, supply and install jointless steel fibre reinforced floor slabs to a new 30,000m² production & Distribution Facility for Coca-Cola. This new facility was constructed to amalgamate numerous smaller facilities under the one roof.

The slabs laid to falls in the production area of the facility totalling 11,000m² had to be constructed over a critical 10 day period to ensure curing time was achieved for the delivery of production equipment. The slab was 190mm thick and reinforced with a single layer A393 mesh to the bottom face. In order to achieve the critical timelines we utilised our SXP laser screed equipped with a dual grade laser to enable the machine to place the concrete to the required falls. Due to the floor receiving a resin coating arris protection was not an issue in this area so Permaban's Diamond dowels & plastic sleeves were used in the formation of our construction joints.

The warehouse area of the facility totalling 19,000m² was constructed to be jointless at 180mm thick and reinforced with 40kgs/m3 of Dramix 65/60 steel fibres. A natural colour dry-shake was applied at 5kg/m2 to act as a fibre suppressant and provide greater abrasion resistance. Construction joints were formed using Permaban's 4010 Alpha Joints.

Pour sizes were approx. 1,900m2 with 340m3 of concrete placed across 10 consecutive working days.

All areas of the warehouse required the slabs to be constructed to FM2 “special” tolerance. To ensure this was achieved Konfloor utilised their SXP laser screed.

The floor slabs to the warehouse area was constructed over 2 weeks and the finished slabs were surveyed by FACE Consultants confirming FM2 “special” tolerance had been achieved.
